KIACHTA is a town is South Siberia/Russia. It is located on the Russian-Mongolian border. It was founded in 1727 and soon became one of the major trade centers on the “Great Tea Route.” Through this town passed trade caravans carrying Chinese tea and other goods from the east to Russia and Europe. |
