German Tea Tin This tin for Chinese tea dates from c 1900. Note the spelling of the word “thee“. In 1903, the reform of orthography in Germany became valid. Many words which had been spelt with “th” at the beginning were from then on spelt with a simple “t” - so “thee” was used before 1903, and “tee” after 1903. No indication of the tea company or tin manufacturer. Principally the same design was used on other tea tins, with different colors, a mirrored appearance etc. (see red example).
